Types of stamps

This is your basic Custom or Stock stamp. It requires a pre-inked stamp pad to make an impression. Traditional wood handle rubber stamps are generally less expensive than a self-inker, but the impression not as clear. 

Self-inking stamp

This kind of stamp has a pre-inked pad attached, and the impression is much more consistent. The pad can often be re-inked or easily replaced to keep the impression crisp and clear.
